Global Trust Center established with headquarter in the Øresund Region

As more and more activities of our life are taking place on the Internet, many still feel uneasy and insecure. There is a valid reason for concern as the Internet has not properly taken care of the individual and his or her rights.

It is difficult, if at all possible, to generate evidence of what you have done, or not done, on the Internet. How can you prove that you have sent an e-mail at a certain time, or submitted your e-taxation? How do you know it has not been altered? This can be important to know if there is a dispute of any kind.

To solve these issues, the Global Trust Center is being established as an international organization with a headquarter in the Øresund region, more precisely in the old national bank palace in Malmö, Sweden.

Today, the city of Malmö is hosting an international delegation that will take the cooperation forward and see how international law and policy should be set up. At the same time tools and practical solutions are being developed.

”We have chosen to establish our headquarter in Malmö because we see incredible
dynamics in the Øresund region. The Swedish-Danish co-operation and the international network provides a strong basis to grow from”, says Ray Nightingale, director of the Global Trust Center.

“Having followed the GTC since its first inception four years ago, it is truly great to see that the seed that was planted has started to grow. We welcome the GTC and hope that the talents we have both in security and policy work will allow a great success”, says Peter Höjerback, CEO of the network organization Øresund IT.

“This initiative is very welcome. Our society needs to keep up to speed with the technological development and reinstate the rights of the individual”, says Dr. Elly Plooij-van Gorsel, Former Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Council of Experts for National Standards.
