Companies seek guidance on Green IT
The green focus is in the right place. However, many companies find it difficult to implement the good intentions, such as reducing the electricity consumption. Øresund IT has Green IT on its agenda and helps the IT sector to develop a leadership in this critical area.
Many companies associate Green IT with something expensive and diffuse. This is the result of a new survey from BEA Systems, which shows that companies find it difficult to develop plans for how to reduce the power consumption. This is an obvious gap in the market that IT companies can fill.
- There has been a strong focus on Green IT the last five months, but still the main interest is in power consumption. Of course that is important, but there are also some very strong business opportunities regarding Green IT. The Øresund Region has a strong tradition of environmental research and combined with the very strong ICT-sector we strongly believe that there is a future for new clean-tech companies, combining IT- and sustainability knowledge. Our mission is to therefore to make the Øresund Region one of Europe’s strongest regions regarding clean-tech and the basic structures for that are already in place, says Micael Gustafsson, project manager at Øresund IT.
Øresund IT helps in developing these new business opportunities within Green IT by providing organizations with knowledge and contacts. Through several meetings and workshops, Øresund IT is now actively promoting Green IT in the Øresund Region and hoping to see innovative projects come to life.
